My driveway's not yet done. The contractor says he hit water and had to divert it. The fact that he hasn't been communicating much tells me that the driveway hasn't been his highest priority. That's okay. The good news is that he says even though it's not finished, the conduit is laid, and the road is drivable all the way to the field. I've only paid him half of the money, so I'm not at all concerned.

I finally contacted a firm about metal outbuildings. I told the salesman that I was looking for a metal barn, 60x80 or 60x100, similar to ones I was seeing online, but symmetrical (unlike this one):

He recommends going with a gabled roof since it will better handle heavy snow. And he sent me preliminary plans that aren't too far off the mark. I'll want an ordinary door to the side of one of the garage doors. And I'd like to have a garage door on one of the sides as well. (Perhaps that will affect stability? I don't know.)

When it's done, the barn will be a drive-thru, with a storage area & washroom along one of the sides, and animals and vehicles in the main area. The storage area will have a concrete floor and be well insulated. With electricity, water, septic and a few small windows, a person could live in it if they had to. The animal area will have a dirt floor, but the entire structure will be on a concrete foundation.

Rough plans follow.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
