Happened to hear a talk by this person and was scratching my head about all the things she seemed to know that I hadn't heard previously.
At some point I realised she was wrapping history around her argument rather than developing her argument from history. The age old problem of prioritising a theory over the facts. So not a real historian, if being real means employing a proper historical procedure.
Doubtless she thinks that appearing compassionate and defending those she perceives to be persecuted justifies everything. And doubtless the audience found reason to feel guilty for misdeeds of which they had never before known themselves to be responsible and felt satisfaction in their newfound understanding.
Turns out she has form.
