Hi tkc, I agree that Bush didn't help. I am thinking catalyst. But AQ precedes Bush and the planning for 9/11 began under Clinton. So the radicalisation comes before Bush's intervention. Also, Moslem insurgencies are everywhere. The US isn't central to the phenomenon. So I think it is a mistake to think of jihadists as "our fault". Radical Islam is not an aberration. It's how strictly constructed Islam says a Moslem should behave. Look up the Koran and the Hadith. Read about Mahomet. It ain't the sermon on the mount. Every now and then, a group of Moslems decides to behave like Mahomet did, peace be upon him. I think they must say peace be upon him because he was always at war. He's not anything like the Arab Jesus. He was a warrior who never let a tribe's hospitality get in the way of the attempt to cause trouble, to divide, to control and forcibly to convert them. Sound familiar? It's not all Moslems. It's not even most Moslems. But it is too many Moslems. That's the problem. And that's why we need to find a way to separate the wheat from the chaff. We need a form of Islam that comports with the values of Western society. Otherwise this is going to be a tedious part of modern life. |
