"The original report by Houser prompted a hunt for an “armed and extremely dangerous” “Hispanic male with little or no hair” driving an “early 2000 model Tahoe or Yukon.”

As soon as the chief saw this 'Hispanic male with little or no hair' - he know it was false.

What the hell....

Arkansas Police Officer Arrested After Shooting Himself, Fabricating Suspect
by Elizabeth Preza | 8:56 pm, November 3rd, 2015

Police in England, Arkansas arrested a fellow officer Tuesday after the sergeant admitted to shooting himself and fabricating the story that resulted in a state-wide man hunt last month.

50-year-old police Sgt. David Houser surrendered to the England Police Dept. this morning, telling authorities he lied in a report about exchanging “gunfire with a suspect who fled from him driving a sport utility vehicle.” Houser also said he was shot by a suspect yielding a .40 caliber semi-automatic

The original report by Houser prompted a hunt for an “armed and extremely dangerous” “Hispanic male with little or no hair” driving an “early 2000 model Tahoe or Yukon.”

England Police Department chief Nathan Cook told reporters it was “every chief’s worst nightmare” to hear about an officer shot on duty. “To investigate and find out it’s self-inflicted just puts a whole different spin on it,” Cook said.

The police chief said Houser was obviously grappling with some personal issues. “Obviously he needs some help to have fabricated a shooting incident and to shoot yourself and claim you were shot at by someone who doesn’t exist,” Cook said.

Houser was charged with filing a false police report. Officials declined to provide additional details about the case, as the investigation is ongoing.
