Important point. The article's side-title talks about socialism. Gates doesn't appear to say it. But he does think government R&D programmes are the solution to problems of this type and that the private sector is "inept".
I suspect, like me, he's a horses for courses sort of person. The market ain't the cure for all problems. But it probably is the best model we have for many of them.
