I agree. Their purpose is fairly obvious. It's to use the deficit/debt argument to dismantle the welfare state. Doesn't matter if it holds water.

Spending on Republican objectives is fine.

Indeed, raising insufficient taxes to pay for Republican objectives is fine. This is where they pretend "supply side" growth will cover the deficiency. A claim for which there is no evidence. Famously used by Paul Ryan to make his nonsense budget balance.

They invent multipliers when it suits them and ignore them when it doesn't. Either dumb or dishonest. Not sure which.

Hi CF. My point in that post is that the GoP always beats their drum" deficit spending is out of control." It's always spending, spending, spending. Of course we know that's a charade, they want less government and less regulation. Spending isn't much of a problem when they're in the White House. Yes, undeniably we should have borrowed during the "Great Recession" to rebuild infrastructure and create jobs. They preferred to claim Obama couldn't create jobs but that lower taxes and less regulation could do that. Call it PAYGO, sequester or austerity they attempt to employ it against dem admins. If not in legsislative control as in Obama's yrs 3&4 they stall, negociate, stall, filibuster over and over.

The point is they don't employ th fiscal responsibility as they claim. Quite the contrary. Somehow they have convinced a significant portion of the citizenship they are the fiscally responsible party. It's horsepucky.
