19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
John says, describing the false teachers in the previous verse, that this bunch went out into various cities and countries and pretended to be from the Church and from the Apostles, but THEY WERE NOT.
They were seeking FAME and a pat on the back. Self praise. Trying to be something they were not.....

The BIBLE teaches us to "try the Spirits and see if they be of God".
How do you do that micro?
Examine those people in light of what the SCRIPTURES SAY and teach. Compare THEM to what GOD'S WORD says.
GOD'S WORD is the StANDARD. IT IS TRUTH.
