The sounds of this 'bell' will be heard for a long time. VW is going to lose much more than the fines that will eventually be levied. They've lost their place in the world of engineering and I still say that until this plays out fully we don't know all the consequences that could still come of this. The potential issue with other automakers is just one aspect of this that we can't predict how it will end, but I'm sure that it will NOT be business as usual.

I don't think so. They'll pay their fine and move on. The others have no case. they had to do what they had to do in the marketplace and they can't blame VW for money they spent trying to improve emissions. It's business.
