"Note that I almost always try and fly on American or American Eagle (or one of their code-sharing partners) so as to get the frequent flyer miles. Over the 30 years that I've been an AAdvantage member, I've flown close to 3.6 million miles (that's just the AA miles) and by the time I retire I should have over 450,000 award points accumulated so that as my wife and I plan some of those trips we want to take, it won't cost us much. Note that I've also got over 400,000 Marriott Reward points so when we go to say Hawaii, which is one of the destinations on our list, we'll be able to stay at some pretty nice resorts free of charge as well."

Good for you OCU. Seems like air-fare and lodging keeps going up and up! Getting it free is excellent!

Just curious about something: As you accumulated those miles and lodgings credits - was the value of them added to your income and taxed? My guess is it was.

I hope they clear this up soon as I'm flying to Salt Lake City on American Eagle later this afternoon.

My fall RUG (Regional User Group) conference schedule has started. Last week I spoke at a group of our customers in St. Paul, Minnesota. We had 130 attendees. This past Tuesday I was in Phoenix and presented to a group of 36 customers. Tomorrow I'm speaking at a conference in Ogden, UT.

I'm in the office all of next week, but the following week, I'm presenting at conferences in Denver, CO and Charlotte, NC. The Charlotte meeting will be interesting as it's being hosted by Hendrick Motorsports, of NASCAR fame. While we're there we'll get a chance to see both their museum as well as their 'manufacturing' facility where they set-up and prepare their various cars and racing teams.

All in all, there are going to be a total of 17 (two down, 15 to go) of these RUG conferences between now and mid-November, and I'm going to be attending all of them. This will be a sort of farewell tour since I've been doing these Fall meetings for over 20 years now and this will be the last as I'm retiring in January.

Note that I almost always try and fly on American or American Eagle (or one of their code-sharing partners) so as to get the frequent flyer miles. Over the 30 years that I've been an AAdvantage member, I've flown close to 3.6 million miles (that's just the AA miles) and by the time I retire I should have over 450,000 award points accumulated so that as my wife and I plan some of those trips we want to take, it won't cost us much.
