Chris Christie Floats Tracking Immigrants Like FedEx Packages

During a New Hampshire town hall event, Chris Christie pitched an interesting idea for how to deal with immigrants and visitors to the US: tag them all like a FedEx package.
“At any moment, FedEx can tell you where that package is. It’s on the truck. It’s at the station. It’s on the airplane,” Christie said. “Yet we let people come to this country with visas, and the minute they come in, we lose track of them.”
From there, Christie described what he proposed to do about this.
“So here’s what I’m going to do as president,” Christie said. “I’m going to ask Fred Smith, the founder of FedEx, to come work for the government for three months, just come for three months to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and show these people.”
Chrisite’s initial estimate was that his idea would cut down the illegal-immigration trend of the past 30 years by at least 40 percent. Of course, not everyone was on board with the idea:
