In one sense, Trump has shed light on on an important issue. Immigration is not intrinsically a bad thing. But the rate of absorption is something it is reasonable to challenge. If the recipient culture seems to be undermined by the pace of immigration, it isn't unreasonable to challenge that rate. People arriving in a country have an impact. One cannot pretend it is otherwise. As aboriginals and native americans know, some cultures may prove antithetical to the indigenous one.
So maybe Trump has revealed a genuine issue. It seems to correspond with the one Europe is also experiencing. Unpleasant choices.
