Once again, fixed rules don't withstand the test of time. The folks who wrote the fourteenth amendment didn't live in a world of airplanes.

You have to be willing to change rules to suit fresh circumstances.

I'd maybe make a rule that one or other parent is a born or naturalised citizen - or even simply a resident. Holiday babies not so much. Can't see why not.
