definitely to the left of the tea party! but compared to corbyn, he's a moderate.

i don't know so much about sanders yet, but what i have heard, it's scandinavian socialism, which isn't all that left wing. they are, after all, the top of nearly every measure of wealth and the bottom on inequality (ie difference between top and bottom earnings quintiles isn't huge). they easily win against the us in measures of what is humorously called the american dream.

maybe this isn't a coincidence. my view (which is unscientific insofar as the measurements don't seem to be available to support or refute it) is that the us would be wealthier if it was a less unequal society.

so i argue the case not as a moral matter, but as an economic efficiency hypothesis.

as regards black lives matter - i am probably not the most enthusiastic minorities issues person (not just skin colour). of course i want a sensitive police force and fair treatment of all people. but i think the issues of poverty and gun rights are more generally in play in many of these cases. and policing is a difficult job and there will be mistakes the way things are set up.

the number of cases of simple racist police behaviour (ie not associated with guns and poverty) is, i think, smaller than its portrayal in the press although it is sometimes an issue. otherwise, why does it turn out so often that - when disclosed - the evidence is exculpatory. michael brown being the obvious example.

i don't see many people with minority status voting republican whoever the democratic candidate is.

Hi Cactus Flower,

Trump reinforces their theory that Hispanics & Latinos have stolen their jobs, while raping & pillaging.

He said he'll make Mexico pay for the 'wall', that's total BS.

He incites & inflames & offers zero policies, they don't seem to realize that.

Bernie is as left-wing as they come, especially compared his counter point, the Tea Party.

Bernie is taking a lot of heat from 'Black Lives Matter', they closed him down in Seattle. (which I think is awful)
He hasn't figured out how to deal with this issue. Being from Vermont, 96% White, this is a chink in his armor.
