Well, it's Saturday morning here is Sao Paulo and I'm heading home later this evening. It's a 12 hr 40 min direct flight to Los Angeles.
Since the conference ended with our awards banquet on Thursday evening, Yesterday I arranged a city tour for myself and 9 other conference attendees. The tour company we hired provided a 12 passenger van, a driver and a very well informed tour guide. He's a local Sao Paulo born and raised guy who was great. His English was very good (which we discovered is very rare in this city were despite the very diverse cultures, virtually everyone speaks ONLY Portuguese). The tour lasted 4 1/2 hours and covered much of the city center, the cathedral, the soccer stadium, 'graffiti ally', the municipal market which was absolutely amazing (we had lunch there) as well as a visit to some of the more interesting neighborhoods and a park where we had a great view of the city. The weather was good with the sun shining most of the day but not too warm.
When I get my photos sorted out I'll try and post some to give you an idea what the largest city in South America, and the forth largest in the world, looks like.
