He is winning the elbow throwing contest as the crowd jostles for position at the starting line. But he'll eventually be left in the dust once the starting gun sounds.

I don't think he's really as attractive to folks as you and others assume. I think it's just an indication of the massive discontent with Washington and this current administration.

He is a buffoon, and I firmly believe most of the folks that supposedly favor him currently know it, and will back off when it matters.

He'd be an even better independent for the Dems. Wouldn't take but just a little support, which would come from otherwise GOP voters, to assure their victory.

I believe the vast majority of the American electorate is various combinations of stupid, ill-informed, uninterested, and/or nuts. But even so, I don't for a second believe they give him a real chance when it gets right down to it.

If I'm wrong on this......oh my.

Hi D&O,

But he is winning. Extraordinary but true.

Like you, I assume Republican voters winnow him out over time. But it is quite shocking that he is even this attractive. He's an oaf. Hopefully it's just an electoral bell curve thing, like Sarah Palin. Someone often occupies that slice. But it isn't the slice which wins elections.

He's a fairly nice Republican candidate for the Democrats.
