Hi armp,
I am sorry. I only saw your 123 post last night. I haven't spent much time on ihub and must have missed your previous post.
The ban was due to a rather persistant wavoid troll who visits this board frequently. I assumed that as usual, the new handle was him and he was employing his usual knee-jerk response to any subject. The 123 was to give the real armp a means of authenticating himself just in case. We got there in the end.
You are no fool. There are versions of almost every side of every argument somewhere online. But I had to read a bit before I discovered anything like what you seemed to be saying. I believe the last pope felt a bit the way you appear to about Galileo.
I don't agree with Ratzinger. But you are welcome to make your point or his. I am sure you will make an interesting argument, as you reliably do on ihub. For myself, I already got the opportunity to refresh my memories on Aquinas, Aristotelian physics, Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler etc which was fun. And I am trying to make sense of Islam and its affect on the world, as many people are.
I've moved from tolerance - even after 9/11 - to the realisation that a large number of these folks believe things that are incompatible with my liberal ideals. I am not willing to seek a middle ground between on the one hand a secular and inclusive sort of liberty and, on the other, religious injunction.
