Poll: Most Americans view Trump unfavorably

Donald Trump has shot to the top of polls of Republican voters, but a new survey suggests the presidential candidate lacks broader appeal.
Among the field of Democratic and Republican 2016 candidates, the billionaire businessman receives the worst favorability ratings. Just 28 percent of Americans view Trump favorably while 58 percent harbor negative views toward him, according to the latest Associated Press–GfK poll.
Nearly half of Republicans hold positive views of the real estate mogul. Roughly one-third of white Americans view Trump favorably while just 16 percent of Hispanics and 10 percent of blacks approve of the GOP candidate.
The former reality TV host who claims a net worth in excess of $10 billion recently told MSNBC's Joe Scarborough that Hispanics love him.
"And I'll tell you something, if I get the nomination, I'll win the Latino vote," Trump said.
According to the AP-GfK poll, Ben Carson — who rose to political fame after criticizing President Obama's signature healthcare legislation during the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast–is the only Republican candidate viewed slightly more favorably than unfavorably by all Americans.
