Verses 5 - 7
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us;
he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
Do you know people whose language is that which is worldly? Foul and dirty. Can't speak without using bad language? These are described in verse 5. The worldly crowd hears them and listens to them. They fit right in.
Those of us who do not do that, but rather speak of things of God, do not fit in. We are pilgrims and strangers to most because we don't talk like them, and they do not hear us.
This is how we KNOW who has the Spirit of TRUTH (Holy Spirit living within them) and who does not.
TELL TALE SIGNS.
Verse 7 sums everything up. You can tell a believer who has the love of GOD in their hearts because those people will love other's just like them. The SPIRIT inside will KNOW one another and they can have fellowship one with another! That same Spirit which abides within every believer also causes us to desire to worship and LOVE God, who loved us FIRST, and gave his only begotten SON to Die for us, and our sins, and to redeem us to HIMSELF through Jesus Christ.
If you are one who speaks like the world, and minds worldly things, you are of the world.
The world will eventually pass.
If you find yourself being drawn more toward things of God, that is the Holy Spirit trying to convince you to come to a saving knowledge of Christ.
That is the job of the Holy Spirit. To point people to Christ. He is the One who convicts us of our sins.
Jesus is the ONE who forgives us our sins if we confess them to HIM, and is just and faithful to FORGIVE us of our sins and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness.
Why don't you repent of your sins today and humble yourself before almighty God who is bringing this age of the world to a close?
To repent simply means to AGREE with GOD about your sin. Sin cannot enter into the presence of a HOLY GOD and it needs to be dealt with.
That is what the BLOOD of CHRIST that was shed on Calvary's Cross does. It is sufficient ONE TIME to wash and cleanse every one who comes to HIM of their sins and make them WHite as SNOW before HIM.
ASK in your own words with a humble heart for Jesus to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart and save you and be your Saviour and your Lord.
He will do it immediately. He said "If you come to me, I will in no wise cast you out" He also said "I stand at the door and knock" "Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I WILL GIVE YOU REST"
Romans 10:10 says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD, SHALL BE SAVED"
In John 3 verse 20 we find that "He that hath the SON hath Life, and He that hath not the Son hath not life, but the WRATH of GOD abideth on HIM forever."
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that WHOSOEVER (anyone) believes IN HIM shall not perish, but have everlasting life".
In Jeremiah, God said, "Look unto me, all ye ends of the earth, and be ye saved. For I am GOD, and there is NONE else".
What is so simple as a look? He is not asking you to climb Mount Everest or sail across the ocean in a kayak. He is asking YOU to LOOK to HIM for SALVATION.
You cannot save yourself. You are flesh. God is SPIRIT. HE IS HOLY and SINLESS. You are CARNAL and earthy. SINFUL.
HE can transform you into a sinless being after HIS own fashion. Your Spirit will be revived and energized for all eternity. When your mortal body lays down in its corruption, HE will give you a brand new body, one that will last an eternity. Perfect, spotless, sinless.
WIll you accept HIM as your Lord and Savior today before it is eternally too late to do so. He loves you He died for YOU! He wants you to spend eternity in Heaven with HIM! Why not cal upon HIM today and settle it for eternity?
