Well we had my high school class reunion (50th) Saturday evening and it was great. Four people who had never attended any of the previous reunions were there so I hadn't seen them in 50 years. Boy, have they gotten old! Even the teacher who was our class sponsor was there and she's still going strong. Retired several years ago and now spending her summers in Northern Michigan and her winters in Daytona Beach.

We've now lost 1/5 of our class, six out of 30 have died over the years. All told, we had 17 members of our class at the reunion so considering the six that we've lost, that's a pretty good turnout. One class member was planning on coming from Arizona but a couple of days ago she fell and broke her ankle and the doctors wouldn't let her travel.

Well we made it to Michigan (to my wife's sister's house) last night about 8:00pm. The original plan was to make it by the late afternoon but we had so much rain on Monday coming across Kansas that we had to stop outside of Kansas City, KS, due to the rain. We had hotel reservations in Columbia, MO, but had to cancel them and find a hotel near where we had to pull-off the interstate, so that meant we had to drive an extra 120 miles on Tuesday. Coming through Eastern Kansas it was raining so hard that it was almost a complete 'white-out' and the trucks were not slowing down for anyone (it was amazing that we've not seen a single accident so far). Then on Tuesday morning the rain was just as bad. We had to stop three times for 20-30 minutes each time to let it pass by. The problem was that the storm was moving in the same direction as we were going and so we would just end-up driving back into it over and over again. We never really got out of it until we turned North toward Michigan when we got to Indianapolis.

Anyway, other then the weather, we've had a good trip so far. We had a good visit with my cousins in Colorado Springs (but it rained there as well) and managed to check off one more Presidential Library when we stopped in Abilene at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum for about an hour (during a let-up in the storms). It was too early in the morning, and besides, it was raining really hard, to even consider stopping at the Truman Library in Independence, MO yesterday morning.
