I've been 'supporting/taxes' the local schools (some of the best) for 45 years & counting. My youngest graduated 25 yrs ago.
Now, I don't have to pay as much as I have for 45 years, but I am still paying.

We have terrific colleges, no reason to leave the state for a very expensive one & expect others to foot the bill.

If they want the cream, let them pay the difference.

I'm a practical women, have always lived within my means. No credit card debt, ever, no mortgage & never refinanced.
I consider finding sales a form of hunting ;))
So don't ever expect me to support overspending when there's a better way with excellent results.

sure, so long as you don't expect them to pay taxes to support retired people.

in my view, society draws a benefit from the education of its young people. they are the tax payers of tomorrow. by helping them get educated, i am assured of an income from the taxes they will pay to support me in my dotage. since education is correlated with income level, i am likely to benefit from the investment in a young person's education via tax almost as much as they are via earnings.
