this is an interesting subject. digspace had a really fascinating post a while ago about the distribution of sugars like corn syrup through the food chain. looks to me as if there's some motion in the direction of trying to make american food a bit healthier. but it is slow work. i'm always shocked by the dairy farms where the cows aren't eating grass in the fields.
