chaper 3 and verses 8 - 9
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested , that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot * sin , because he is born of God.
Verse 8 reminds us that if we are without Christ, never ever having asked HIM to forgive us and to save us and be our Lord and Savior, that if we are not GOD's Child, we are the Devil's child and we will do the works of him.
In order to save us from our sin, because we cannot save ourselves, Jesus Christ left Heaven's Throne, took upon Himself the form of man, was born of a virgin, and paid the price of your sin and mine on the cross so that we may have forgiveness of sin and life everlasting through faith in HIM alone.
Verse 9 goes on to reinforce the fact that HIS BLOOD continually washes HIS OWN from sin daily and consequently because of HIS POWER, we who are His, cannot sin because HIS blood cleanses us from all our sins!
God cannot allow sin to enter into heaven, which is why the cleansing power of the Blood of Christ is so important! Without it, we are utterly lost and can never enter into HIS HOLY presence!
