Since Illinois has decided to allow concealed carry, I decided to check it out at a local gun show held in Marion, Illinois, my home town, last fall. I didn't ask the person that I dealt with if he was a licensed gun dealer but I did ask what requirements I would have to meet to buy a handgun. He said that the only one that he tried to follow was if the person had an Illinois gun owners permit. There was no waiting time and no mention of any background check. And the gentleman had a large number of guns on display for sale there. And, believe it or not, I'm still seriously considering concealed carry due to the amount of travel that I do.
