Let's not forget that she was raised in a family with two adopted African-American siblings, married an African-American man and is raising a mixed-race child. And when she was in school the kids treated her as if she herself WAS black because her two 'brothers' were black. Besides, the NAACP does not limit membership to people of color. After all, the NAACP was founded by a coalition of both white and black concerned citizens, so the idea that a non-black cannot play a leadership role in the organization is ridiculous.
