Joe, this ones for you ;))
My mothers Himalayan, 'muffy' is very protective of her, even when I'm changing her sheets. I keep the vacuum running to keep him from attacking me while he's under the bed. He's fine as long as its not in her/his bedroom ;))

Man Calls 911 After Three-Hour Standoff With His Cat

by Frank MacEachern Police & Fire 13 hours ago

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man called 911 during a three-hour standoff -- with his cat -- early Wednesday, police said.

The man told police that his 7.5-pound cat attacked him as he tried to enter his Shippan Avenue residence, Sgt. Kelly Connelly said.

The ferocious feline forced the man to retreat and an ensuing standoff lasted for three hours before the man called 911 at about 1:30 a.m., Connelly said.
Eventually, the man mustered up enough courage to walk into the residence and go to bed, she said.

Police advised both parties to stay away from each other for the remainder of the night, Connelly said.

Makes more sense after reading a better report that explains:
1. the cat had just given birth
2. man was coming home with his wife (not some drunken idiot)
3. opinion from animal control officer (who sheds light on why the cat may have behaved that way)
