And he is perhaps the biggest clown of them all. After all, Rick Perry honestly thinks that the federal government should be prevented from playing any role in the lives of the citizens of any state (and he includes corporations since he considers them to be people as well). He has stated, on more than one occasion, that programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc are unconstitutional. He also believes the same when it comes to the Departments of Education, Interior, Commerce, Labor, etc. He thinks all environmental laws are unconstitutional as well as all federal labor laws, including child labor laws, and organizations like OHSA and FEMA. He also thinks that the only money that should be taxed is that which was earned based on the number of hours worked, or straight wages. In other words, all bonuses, stock options, capital gains, carried interest, dividends, interest income, inheritance, etc should be 100% tax exempt at both the state and federal levels.
Now I can understand how some winger might think that positions like these will have little impact on someone getting votes in a Republican primary, but they have to be totally certifiable if they think a candidate can run on a platform like that and win a national election.
