Sheriff: Three Bikers Mistakenly Released On Lower Bonds
WACO (May 19, 2015) Three of the 170 bikers arrested in the aftermath of a deadly gun battle between rival gangs and police outside of Waco’s Twin Peaks restaurant were mistakenly released on a lower bond, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara confirmed Tuesday.
The three were identified as Juan Garcia, 45, who’s an engineer with the Austin Public Works Department, and Drew King and James Harris, also of Austin.
Garcia and King were released after posting $50,000 bonds and Harris after posting a $20,000 bond.
The bonds for the three were apparently set before Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson ordered a blanket $1 million bond for each of the 170 suspects.
Authorities are now looking for the three, who will be rearrested and held on the higher bond.
McNamara told CNN that at least one of the bikers arrested Sunday was wearing body armor underneath his leather vest.
Nine bikers died and 18 others were wounded in the shootout early Sunday afternoon.
In the aftermath, police arrested about 170 other bikers.
