charlie hebdo's subject is your belief. it opposes fundamentalist religion and what that entails. to oppose these people by caricature is probably the most effective way. this is why the fundamentalists attack cartoonists. they do so because they are afraid of being mocked. they do so because mockery destroys them. it takes away their adherents. it makes them non-serious, even if what they do is awful. it means their acts are merely criminal and detaches the message from the action. in this battle - and it is a battle whether we like it or not - comedians and cartoonists are our most powerful weapon.

Hi Cactus Flower,

While I am opposed to ANY killing for ANY religion, I was never a cheerleader for charlie hebdo.

I would likewise be opposed to anyone killing Geller.

For the most part I think too many religions are abused by those trying to promote them, many fundamentalists in the USA are terrible.

I'm at work, might get back to this later, wanted to reply.
