if the police officers did something wrong they ought to suffer the consequences.
hopefully it isn't a politically-motivated prosecution. give protesters what they want regardless of the circumstances.
i don't know enough yet to know that the police officers ought to stand trial. what actually happened is still opaque. the initial appearance was that the victim was injured before he entered the van. now it seems he was injured in the van and so i suppose he was faking injury beforehand. but he ends up with the injury he was pretending he had. huh?
if he was injured in the van, why are all six officers charged? were they all in the van with the deceased person? what is the reason that an arresting officer on a bike is charged with an injury that happened in a van?
it's all a bit confusing at this point.
all the way back to trayvon martin, we've seen media-generated brouhahas working to force some pre-decided version of justice on local prosecutors. they send anchors and equipment into communities. they stir things up simply by being there. they demand satisfaction before the facts are known. they create an atmosphere of guilt and blame based on narratives they assume before they arrive on scene.
basically, they think it makes for good ratings. but it ain't a way to run the criminal justice system.
so i hope these cops are being prosecuted for good reason. but we shall see. sometimes, it's just about a vainglorious prosecutor.
