7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be .
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot * please God.
This is a serious two verses of GOD'S WORD and I would pay attention to them. It describes the STATE of the UNSAVED in relation to almighty God.
Carnal means earthly. You have an earthly mind. You mind the things of earth, which is silly because how long are you going to live in relationship to a thousand years? How about a million? Your life is a VAPOR that appears for only a short time and then VANISHES away!
ENMITY means "at war" or "against". The UNSAVED PERSON is at ODDS against GOD. (guess who will win that battle?)
That is a DANGEROUS position to be in!
He is able to destroy BOTH BODY and eternal SOUL. It is HIM you SHOULD reverence and FEAR!!!!
If you have a carnal mind, you will not subject yourself to the law of GOD and in fact, you cannot.
Verse 8 goes on to say that the unsaved person CANNOT PLEASE GOD EVER.
Now, if you cannot please God, and you die like this, do you honestly think HE is going to let you into HIS HOLY HEAVEN where their is continual JOY, SINGING, WORSHIP, and PRAISE of HIM and HIS DEAR SON?
YOU CAN'T PLEASE HIM! So you will not be with HIM. YOU will be CAST into the eternal lake of fire to be tormented day and night because YOU would not accept HIS ONLY SON !!!!!
Until you accept CHRIST, you are at war against GOD.
That is what these verses are telling you.
That is a very dangerous place to be in.....
