Al Qaeda Frees 300 Yemeni Prisoners
Around 300 of Yemen’s most dangerous prisoners were freed Thursday by al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, when militants stormed the al Mukalla prison on the country’s central coast. Identities of those involved in the jailbreak have not yet been confirmed, but they may include well-known AQAP members like Khalid Batarfi. The news comes as an international airstrike campaign seems to have made the first gains against Shiite Houthi rebels in the city of Aden.
