not so much stupid as uneducated in the particular skills required. i sometimes wonder how many futurists have actually developed a successful product themselves.

it's easier to imagine the future when you are unencumbered by personal experience of trying to bring a product to market.

to spike the egos of a cabal of complacent, self-anointed visionaries.

you can't smash a lump of jelly and turn it into something new. you can't make it nutritious. you can't change its colour. but you can reveal its substance.

when the vision fails and the followers have moved on and all that is left is the complacency, it discloses itself and thereby reveals there is nothing else there.

what a complete failure of intellectual capacity when a person is entirely incapable of flexibility. when they cannot simply admit "i was mistaken: my way of thinking didn't explain much of anything." when they no longer serve truth but only their own desperate need for vindication. when they haven't even noticed that their own pretensions have been blown away by time and thereby made irrecoverable.

how utterly humiliating.
