There's a Chevron station less than a mile from our house that I pass every day on the way to work. Yesterday regular was $3.359 and this morning it was $3.659, a 30 cent increase overnight! I just filled-up this morning, before work, at the COSTCO near my office and paid $2.879 for regular, up from $2.599 a week ago.
BTW, I'm coming East, well at least to Detroit, next week to 'visit' Winter. I fly into Detroit Monday morning for four days of meetings and customer training, and then fly home Saturday morning. At least I'll get a chance to see my kid brother (the priest) and my sister, who's been repatriated from Venezuela about three months ago. She's staying at the rectory with my brother until her husband can figure out a way to get their money out of the country (he's trying to move it thru some Panamanian banks because they can't make direct transfers from Venezuelan banks to the US) They'll still own their penthouse and an older appartment (their son and his family will be moving from the older apartment, into the penthouse once Emily and Luis get settled in the US, whenever that happens) so they could eventually go back if things improve there. My sister has never taken any of her money out of the US, keeping it in banking and investment accounts that my brother has been managing for her since she moved to South America some 40 years ago or so (actually my mother took care of it until she passed away 15 years ago, that's when my brother took it over and he's done pretty well with how he invested it so it's not like she's without any assets at all, just that Luis cashed out his pension and that along with his inheritance, he's trying to get it out of the country).
Anyway, I've already arranged dinner with them at least one evening next week while I'm in town so that'll be nice to catch-up.
