Granted, there was the popping of the so-called 'tech bubble' but that really only had a significant impact on the NASDAQ. The rest of the markets came through it pretty much unscathed. However, comparing that to what happened 8 years later, it was hardly a "collapse". Between September 2007 and February 2009, ALL of the markets dropped by OVER 50%.
