NewSunR. So that's why the cataract surgery. Mine was successful on both eyes though there was a later followup a couple months ago.

That vitrectomy sounds very important. I wish you all the luck for success in that operation. I once knew a fellow who was subject to macular detachment ... something he was prone to due to premature birth which is a little beyond my understanding. He was fine when I last saw him.

They did cataract surgery on this eye last week - wouldn't have really needed that if it weren't for the surgery next week.

I have what's called a macular hole. They will do a vitrectomy to repair it. If you have even the beginning of a cataract, the surgery will make it get rapidly worse - so they go in and do the cataract surgery before they do the vitrectomy. That also helps give the surgeon a clear view inside the eye for the vitrectomy.

They have about a 90% success rate with it.
