At Least 6 Die in Metro-North Train Crash

Six people were killed when a Metro-North Railroad train struck a vehicle on the tracks in Valhalla, N.Y., in Westchester County, on Tuesday evening in a fiery crash, officials said.

The driver of the vehicle and five passengers on the train were killed, said Aaron Donovan, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The train struck the vehicle around 6:30 p.m., Mr. Donovan said. The vehicle and the front end of the train caught fire. Passengers were evacuated through the rear of the train and were assembling nearby, he said.
