1st Rare Fox Seen in Yosemite Since 1915
Yosemite officials revealed that one of the rarest animals in North America has been spotted in the national park for the first time in 100 years. The Sierra Nevada Red Fox was spotted on a motion-sensitive camera between Dec. 13 and Jan. 4. It marked the first time the animal was spotted in Yosemite since 1915, There are estimated to be fewer than 50 of the species on the entire continent. Park spokeswoman Kari Cobb said the sighting is a good sign the animals may “make a comeback.”
