Agreed, which makes this an even more interesting story.

BTW, this should not be an issue at the Super Bowl since in that situation it's the NFL itself who supplies the balls for BOTH teams and they're responsible for them before the game. During regular season play and playoffs, it's each team's responsibility to supply their own balls (the same as in college games).

...both teams are required to furnish balls for the game and they are turned over to the refs prior to the game for inspection. If somethin is going on it has to be happening after the balls are inspected. Either that or the refs aren't inspecting em.
