alternatively, just acknowledge that islam contains within it the seeds of a philosophy that is incompatible with pluralism and a text upon which to build a supremacist and terrorist organisation.

we need to affect that philosophy. our own secular ideal is just fine.

that's not to say we are perfect. human beings ain't. but the model of a secular structure and pluralism of belief is a very decent one.

as obama took advantage of the paris massacre by muslim terrorists to suggest europe needs to integrate muslims more effectively, let me suggest that, since the same sort of folks were planning to bomb the US Capitol and recently bombed a boston marathon, a mirror might be handy?

or alternatively, just look where the problem actually is. because when a politician shifts blame onto a society rather than the perpretrators, any sentient being is going to think - what a strange coincidence it is that so many societies with muslim minorities and entirely different cultural norms have the exact same issue. and indeed, so many majority muslim societies have the same problems.

it must be a strange coincidence to obama. the problems are with muslims and no other faiths. muslim terrorism exists murderously in india, the usa, china, the philippines, france, the uk, bali, mali, nigeria, egypt, indonesia, pakistan, iraq, syria, afghanistan, saudi arabia, libya, yemen etc.

strange, that? assimilation is our problem?

being nicey nice does no good. first, you have to look at the problem square in the face. it isn't us. it's the people doing violence. and the philosophy that enables it. a philosophy rooted in the text of the koran and the hadith.

to combat a sacred text, we need to find the text within islam which is equally sacred that challenges it effectively and to assert this alternative aggressively.

sic et non, as peter abelard once said.
