The engineering school I attended played a big part in the Frisbee world being that many of the early international tournaments were held on or near our campus and the original trophy awarded each year, the 'Nachazel Cup', was designed by and named after Dr. Jules T Nachazel, professor of Mathematics and Civil Engineering at MTU in the 50's and 60's. And the Frisbee team from the Library Bar in Houghton, MI were recognized as the winningest team for much of the 60's and 70's.
Another interesting story is that Fred Morrison, the inventor of the modern plastic molded Frisbee (patent #183,626 issued in 1958 ), when he died in 2010, it was rumored that his will stated that he be cremated and that his ashes were to be mixed into the plastic used to mold a limited number of WHAM-O Pro-Model Frisbees which were to be given to friends and family members.
