Note that I also compute my taxes using a computer just that years ago I created a complex yet easy to use spreadsheet, which is table driven, to compute my State and Federal income taxes. What I need are the numerical data only found in the instructions.

But your note brings us to another issue; how is it that the online sites as well as products like TurboTax (which I can buy the 2014 version at Costco as we type) have already gotten the needed data to update their products and offerings, yet regular citizens can't get access to the same data from the IRS, at both the Federal AND State (at least CA) levels.

OCU - after over 50 years of doing my taxes with pen and paper - I went to this:

FreeFileFillableForms

You do it online, its very user friendly, and it's free.
I've used it the past 4 years. Now - I actually look forward to the process. Smile Unless, I miscalculated my Estimated - and have to cough up a bundle like last year when I was shoddy in monitoring my Realized Gain. Sad
