I agree.

At least the mentally ill assassin didn't live here in NY.

We are horrified at the assassination of our officers & grieve with their families.

But now, sadly, we are becoming more divided.
The cops are laying the blame on Mayor de Blasio for speaking the truth of having the 'talk' with his biracial son.
The cops that were at the hospital turned their backs when the mayor appeared.

If we want to become a better society we need to be respectful of the history others have & are living.

Police have a very difficult job, often thankless & most of their work is dealing with the worst of society.
It comes with the job, the job they chose.
NYC officers are some of the very best!
They too have rotten apples that need to be weeded out.

assassinated ny cops show the multiracial nature of nypd.

can't easily make a case that nypd is intrinsically racist if many of the cops are minorities.

maybe they are just occasionally (or even frequently) thuggish.

and maybe because there are people out there like the assassin, they have to be. and race is not what animates them.

talk about an own goal. takes the wind clean out of the sails of those who want a different kind of policing in black neighbourhoods. which is a shame.
