If Boehner can get his monkeys to vote, things will happen. They didn't when the Senate, under Reid, passed the immigration law, overwhelmingly. What makes you think they will do it now?

Obama and G.O.P. Speak of Cooperation

President Obama offered an olive branch to victorious Republicans on Wednesday, congratulating them for â€œa good nightâ€ but saying that the message he received from Americans is that both parties need to work together on behalf of the public.

â€œThe American people sent a message â€” one that theyâ€™ve sent for several elections now. they expect the people they elect to work as hard as they do,â€ Mr. Obama said during a news conference in the East Room. â€œThey want us to get the job done.â€

In his own news conference in Louisville, Ky., Mitch McConnell, who is likely to lead the new Republican majority in the Senate next year, vowed a spirit of cooperation and compromise with Mr. Obama even as he cautioned that a more starkly divided government in Washington would inevitably lead to sharp partisan disagreements.
