Yes, we used to pick them along with morrel mushrooms when I lived in Northern Michigan. The morrel's you'd saute in butter, but the puffbals were sliced about a 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick, floured and then fried in a buttered or oiled pan. My sister used to go nuts for fresh fried mushrooms. Personally, I could take-um or leave-um.

The Giant Puffball Mushroom

I have 5 on my yard, & in over 40 years of living here have never seen them before. They are the size of a soccer ball, one is larger.

Looked them up & they are edible.
