Trooper Kills Alleged Slasher on Bus
A Connecticut state trooper shot and killed a man accused of stabbing multiple passengers on a tour bus Tuesday night. A man on a Dahlia Travel & Tours bus allegedly started slashing two people on board with what the trooper later identified as a box cutter. At around 10 p.m., emergency calls were made about the stabbings. Before police could arrive, the bus driver pulled into a construction zone on I-95 in Norwalk, where the state trooper was working. When the trooper approached the bus, the suspect was wrestling with a man, according to a police press spokesman. “The suspect was armed and was performing harm to the witness,” said State Police Lt. Paul Vance. “The suspect began to advance toward the trooper with that cutting instrument. The trooper was forced to draw his weapon and fire on the suspect.” People who witnessed the incident from a bridge overlooking 1-95 said they saw a man exit the bus with a knife and then get shot. The suspect was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Another witness was injured when one of the trooper’s bullets ricocheted and hit her, but her injury was not serious. The two stabbing victims are in stable condition. The trooper’s name has been withheld.
