All of Europe is being squeezed by the New Cold War, especially Russia and Ukraine. But the Russian people are more compliant than others, so Putin is probably stronger now than he was previously. The Russian people are concerned about a world war over what they see as the West's intrusion into and subversion of Eastern European states.
