...turkey currently is refusing to let the US use Turkey as a launching point for air strikes against ISIS and during the first Gulf War they refused to let us stage troops there. The only thing Turkey has agreed to let us do is come in and defend em if anybody attacks em. The reciprocal agreement isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Turkey is a friend in need, but not a friend in deed.

Turkey is a member of NATO and as such has already had to make certain commitments and concessions with respect to how it works with other NATO members.
