Micro,

I don't think you're totally understanding what the problem is/was.

Once Hollywood would start up and get to the desktop background, at that point I had nothing. No icons, no task bar, no start, no start menu, nothing what-so-ever but the desktop background.

Now - having said that - I did get her to start in safe mode yesterday, but had the same situation there. Looking at production, I suspected that in safe mode, F@H wasn't operating, so thought I would start her up normal and at least she could fold until I got time to actually work on her. So - low and behold, this morning I have icons back and she seems to be "normal". I'm currently running a virus scan. I'm also thinking I need to do a restore - but can't remember how to do that - but at least I'm in a better place with her to be able to go forward!

Where do I find being able to start a restore once the virus scan finishes?

Sun :-)

You do not need control -alt-delete to do this one:

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-explorer-exe-does-not-start

This simply allows you to make sure your explorer.exe is in the registry where it belongs.

(You get to the registry editor by enetering "regedit" in the start/run box much like typing in msconfig)

You should try this by going into safe mode.

WHILE in safe mode, scan the computer for MALWARE and set the C drive/properties/tools to do a check disk at the next startup as well so it can fix registry errors.

I just did this last night on my nieces computer using same method.

I think it wqill work for you,

micro....
