Zim, exactly. The government that controls all weapons, controls the lives of the people under it. And, BTW, personal transportation (cars, etc.), rat poison and soap, etc., can all be used as weapons. Should the government control where you go and what you eat? Aome Americans seem to think so.

Any government dedicated to the well being of it's citizenry can not ignore the plague of death that entombs this country due to the widespread distribution of weapons of carnage undreamed of by Jefferson and Madison.

That a nation of free men and women cannot limit the distribution of various weaponry would be an assertion of lunacy.

I'm pretty sure the founding fathers did foresee
what sort of carnage people could inflict on other
peoples.

However, they also probably recognized that the
biggest mass murderers, by a huge margin, are
governments themselves.

(Google Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, Stalin, Hitler, etc. etc.)

An armed populace can overthrow an unjust tyrannical
government.
