A week ago, we got hit by a tropical storm and got 1.6 inches of rain in an hour. Trees blown down, flooding, power out, etc. Our nearby CC golf course became a lake. It was very selective and the intense rainfall limited to very small areas. We haven't had 2 inches of rain in the past year. In a non-drought year - we may get 9-10 inches.
This was from a hurricane coming up from Baja California.

Another one is coming right now and the temp has dropped from 105 to 90 rather quickly. Wind picking up. Our temp has been over 100 the past several days.

Let it rain,, let it rain! Smile

We don't like this news:

By Gary Robbins8:05 P.M.SEPT. 10, 2014Updated12:37 P.M.SEPT. 11, 2014

El Nino has warmed the waters along the San Diego County coastline to 75 degrees -- seven degrees above normal, says the National Weather Service.

"The El Nino signal is weak in the eastern Pacific, but it is still having an effect all the way up here," says Jimmy Taeger, a weather service forecaster.

There also has been comparatively little marine layer in recent weeks to cool the ocean, and onshore winds have been generally light.

Over the weekend, the balmy waters enabled Hurricane Norbert to travel unusually far up Baja California, triggering record rainfall Monday in Phoenix. But scientists say the El Nino is very weak and is unlikely to enhance rainfall this winter in Southern California, which is now in the third year of drought.
